The actress Rajshri Deshpande always plays solid characters on screen that has a profound impact on the audience. Similarly to her characters, Rajshri is a strong-willed and fighter who makes things happen in real life as well. There’s more to her than being an actress in front of the camera who’s all about glamour and attention.
According to Rajshri, “NGOs are not her favorite. They often take over tasks that the government should be doing. They should be restricted to serving as salt on a plate, informing people about the situation. As a result, many people have to perform government jobs against their will. If we wish to see lasting change, we cannot just raise money and stop there, as my mother taught me.”
Starting by clearing a dried canal in 2016 with the help of 50 farmers for 15 days, which resulted in the dried Bemble river overflow in monsoons, to helping Yeomans in Aurangabad to fight drought, Rajshri has actively participated in making a change. In addition, Rajshri built 200 toilets, provided villagers with water supplies, and also opened schools so that women could become teachers. She covers every empty space in order to make a difference. Rajshri’s Nabhangan foundation strives for a better tomorrow for everyone in Maharashtra.
Deshpande’s initiatives are driven by her personal experiences, challenges, and she hopes to work with Shah Rukh Khan’s Meer foundation in the future.
