We can’t deny that we, Indians, love Independence Day and Republic Day more than any other festival. With pride, we wave our Indian flag as we wear tricolor clothes. We sing our favorite patriotic songs and remember those who gave their lives for our freedom. Aneri Vajani, an actress, says she has loved the day since she was a child.

“As a child, the day signified purity and pristine. We would wear white kurtas with tricolor dupattas. We would be very excited to get ready for school. My choir group sang patriotic songs.” Besides reinforcing the importance of freedom and turning the nation into a republic, it also helped me to overcome my stage fright. In the beginning, we would watch the parade on TV and then watch a patriotic film together. After so many sacrifices, the values and importance of freedom remain with us. The tradition of singing patriotic songs on this day must continue.”
