No introduction is necessary for Shekhar Kapur. The auteur has produced a number of well-known films that have gained cult status among audiences. The most recent film by the renowned director, “What’s Love Got to Do With It? was launched in the UK, US, and India to great acclaim.
Out of the nine categories in which the film was nominated, the British National Awards were held earlier this week, and the film ended up winning four of them: Best Director, Best British Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor.
Shekhar Kapur shared a post on social media with the caption, “I want to thank @nationalfilmawards for this incredibly unexpected honor.
But ‘Team What’s Love Gotta Do With It? It should actually receive this honor. A director is merely the sum of his or her team, after all…”
With Shekhar Kapur’s Oscar winning films Elizabeth and Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Kapur’s contributions to film have impacted not only the Indian landscape but also globally.
Before they were recognized by mainstream cinema, Shekhar Kapur worked with actors like Cate Blanchett, Eddie Redmayne, and Heath Ledger, demonstrating his ability to recognize talent. Shekhar Kapur just received the “Lifetime Contribution to UK-India Relations” award at IGF’s UK-India Awards, and he is also working on the sequel to his directorial debut movie, “Masoom” as well!
Hi, this is your Filmee Boy! About me? Well, I am a "Bakchod" who performs way better than "Thugs of Hindustan" by firing "Andhadhun" words. I am the "Padman" who has always stood at "102 Not Out". Last time when you were being a "Fanney Khan" at one of your "Veere Di Wedding", I was ruling the "Baazaar" of Bollywood by singing "Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga".
