The groundbreaking director Shekhar Kapur gained fame with his directorial debut, Masoom. He recently disclosed that Masoom, which he made without any prior experience or professional training, was his first attempt at filmmaking. Surprisingly, he only used his instincts to direct the movie, using genuine emotion as his main inspiration.
My debut movie was masoom. I made the movie entirely intuitively, without any help or instruction in filmmaking. I had so much support from the actors, my team, Gulzar, and RD Burman, and I just wanted to make sure I was telling the story as emotionally as I could.
At the IGF’s UK-India Awards, the legendary director was recently presented with the prestigious “Lifetime Contribution to UK-India Relations” award. In addition to his successes, he has won a number of awards. What’s Love Got to Do With It? A Kapur film in the UK’s National Film Awards earned 9 nominations and won 4 prizes, including Best Director and Best Film.
The music score for the much awaited movie “Masoom: The Next Generation” is one of the many projects Shekhar Kapur is currently working on.
