Regarding this matter, Shama Sikander remarks, “The significance of cleanliness and hygiene cannot be underestimated in any way. “I firmly believe that the foundation of environmental cleanliness lies in the personal aspiration of every individual to maintain cleanliness. It is a well-known fact that cleanliness is essential. This topic has been discussed for many years. However, we continue to litter on roads and contribute to environmental pollution. Regrettably, a small number of individuals recognize the fact that more than mere conversation is required. We must ignite the appropriate sense of purpose and enthusiasm to maintain cleanliness in our streets and cities only through this approach can we achieve success in that particular department. I consistently advocate for implementing international practices by aligning my words with actions. Therefore, I was physically present with all my fellow BMC workers and young students to inspire their thinking in any way possible. I took immense satisfaction in participating in the road cleaning activity alongside them. This experience made me deeply aware of the gruelling conditions that BMC workers face daily, enduring extreme heat and rainstorms, all to maintain the cleanliness of our city. It is disheartening that most of us remain apathetic and unaware of their sacrifices. In an hour, my arms ached, and I experienced excessive perspiration. Emphasizes the importance of raising awareness about the ease of littering on roads compared to the challenges of proper disposal. I extend my utmost respect to the BMC officials and workers who diligently carry out their daily duties. I am glad I fulfilled my commitment to this initiative by actively participating in the physical awareness campaign on the streets. We are moving in the proper direction regarding this matter.”
