One of actor and producer Iti Acharya’s greatest accomplishments was presenting the first Kannada film at the Cannes Film Festival, which is the top film festival in the world. The representation and respect she provided for her nation were what made this year’s Cannes a mind-blowing success for her. She may have taken breaths away with her alluring red carpet attire. An outspoken supporter of promoting Indian designers, her final appearance at the awards ceremony featured styling by Mumbai-based Natasha Bohra.
Iti Acharya describes her experience at Cannes this year in general, saying, “Being able to present my Kannada film “Anukarne,” which I also produced, at the Indian pavilion at Cannes was a significant step for me toward a new journey that I hope to urge my community to embark on. More Indian films are needed in Cannes. I chose Mumbai-based celebrity stylist Natasha Bohra above working with any other international stylist to create my enigmatic looks for Cannes. The highlight of Cannes 2023 for me was meeting and wearing some of the greatest European designers. These labels were bilologique recherche, L Raphael, Giants, Loreal, and Dessange.
She remembers seeing Jennifer Lawrence face to face when asked to name one unforgettable event from her red carpet-appearance. I believe that moment was the most memorable of the entire event. “It was an incredible time when I was heading up the red carpet and suddenly Jennifer Lawrence came down the stairs wearing black flats instead of heels to make a dramatic statement.”
