Hinduism celebrates Maha Shivratri annually in honor of Lord Shiva, one of the three holy trinities. This year, Maha Shivratri falls on February 18, a Saturday. The festival is observed across the country by fasting and offering prayers to the deity. During Maha Shivratri, people strongly believed that the ‘linga’ form of Lord Shiva appeared for the first time.
