Hansal Mehta returns with another hard-hitting story based on the 2016 terrorist attack in Dhaka cafe. A world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival 2022. Faraaz is set for release on 3rd February 2023.
Faraaz is a story that has to be told, and Hansal Mehta has done justice to the level of a catastrophic event that shocked the world,” said producer Anubhav Sinha. The story is about a hero who made a very brave choice and the spirit of a boy who stood tall for his loved ones.”
“To me, Faraaz is the story of our polarised times. Through the one event that rocked Dhaka, the 2016 attack on the Holey Artisan cafe, I’ve tried to explore what drives young, vulnerable minds towards violence.” I also hoped to shine a light on the courage and humanity it takes to stand up against violence with Faraaz, a nail-biting thriller unfolding over one tense night. We can defeat bigotry by standing up to it and its carnage.”
“After an overwhelming response at the BFI premiere, we are thrilled to share this untold story about a young boy finally.” said producer Bhushan Kumar. As it celebrates friendship, bravery, and humanity at its core, Faraaz will surely strike a chord in your heart. It is a pleasure to be a part of such an important movie.”
It is directed by Hansal Mehta and produced by Anubhav Sinha, Bhushan Kumar, Sakshi Bhatt, Sahil Saigal, and Mazahir M. In association with Mahana Films, T-Series and Benaras Media jointly make the film. It stars Zahaan Kapoor, Aditya Rawal, Aamir Ali, Juhi Babbar, Sachin Lalwani, Palak Lalwani, and Reshham Sahaani in the cast.
