Apurva Review
“Apurva,” released on Disney+ Hotstar, embarked on an ambitious journey as a thrilling cinematic experience. While it promised to redefine the genre, it treads into predictable territory, leaving much to be desired.
The Plot’s Initial Promise and Subsequent Fall
“Apurva” sets off with a gripping premise, hinting at a cut-throat narrative. However, as the plot unfolds, it loses its initial edge, falling prey to clichés and hurried resolutions. This shift from an engaging start to a predictable end is the film’s most significant shortcoming.
Character Performances: The Highlights and Lows
Tara Sutaria in the titular role of Apurva is fierce, embodying a strong female protagonist with conviction. Her performance is a standout, showcasing her range as an actor. On the other hand, Rajpal Yadav, with his seasoned acting skills, delivers a remarkable performance, overshadowing Abhishek Banerjee. Their performances add depth to the otherwise faltering narrative.
Visuals and Cinematography
The film’s cinematography and visual treatment merit mention. The creators have skillfully used visuals to build suspense, though this is sometimes undercut by the film’s pacing and story structure.
Plot and Execution
The movie, initially promising a gripping thriller, gradually succumbed to predictability. Its narrative, while starting strong, lost its edge, undermining the suspense that was originally built up.
While the film promised an exhilarating experience, it faltered, losing its thrill in an attempt to shorten its narrative journey. Initially gripping, the plot gradually veered towards the predictable, diminishing the story’s overall impact.
“Apurva” on Disney+ Hotstar, while a commendable attempt in the thriller genre, falls short of being a memorable cinematic experience. It’s a decent choice for those seeking a quick thriller on OTT platforms but might not satisfy viewers looking for sustained suspense and originality.
Final Thoughts
Despite its promising start, “Apurva” settles as a one-time entertainer on OTT. It garners a rating of ⭐️⭐️1/2, reflecting its journey from a potentially thrilling ride to a more predictable destination. The film, while offering moments of entertainment, misses the mark in sustaining the initial excitement and intrigue it sets out with.
In summary, “Apurva” on Disney+ Hotstar starts with a bang but fizzles out, unable to maintain its promise. It’s a film for those occasional movie nights but might not satiate the appetite of hardcore thriller aficionados.
