Released on 8th November 2018, Thugs of Hindostan release marked the 2nd aniversary of India’s most highlighted event – Demonetization. Well, it’s an ironic coincidence, but the movie was not in that league anywhere.

Set in 1795 and narrated by Firangi Mallah aka Aamir Khan, the movie, Thugs of Hindostan is more about twist and turns which will give you a surprise no less than Race Franchise but with a pinch of history. The Bollywood film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Lloyd Owen, has tried every aspect to grab audience eyeballs.

The Plot –

This 2018 Indian Hindi-language epic action-adventure film is about a band of thugs who are indeed enthusiastic but only for one thing – AZADI. They all aspire to get freedom from the rule of the British East India Company.

PAUSE – Why is everyone trying to free themselves from the company? Okay, I get it, this whole capturing thing started with them but again let it go off the table guys!

BACK FROM THE PAUSE – Written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, produced by Aditya Chopra and Yash Raj Films (under his banner), the movie has a few good notes but many obvious ones. For instance, every one of you might have known by now, what the film is all about? Perfectly, grabbed – getting freedom from the company. But that’s not it!

PAUSE – Imagine yourself as a new age entrepreneur who is trying hard to find investors. So, in this case, everyone knows one thing that he/ she will be all over getting the money but what matters is the way!

BACK FROM THE PAUSE – So, in our Thugs of Hindostan movie review, we are confident that none of our words shall disclose any spoiler but the answer to whether you should watch the movie or not? However, one thing we would certainly say – go and watch the film!

Here’s why –

The movie, as we said earlier, begins with the narration of Aamir Khan but it has good appearances by Ronit Roy and less good by Katrina Kaif, who except for dancing has no role. After that, we also realize that the movie has perfectly lined up introductions to all the characters of the film, Khudabaksh Jahaji, Firangi, and Zafira. But we little know that there is someone in the movie which has more gravity and screen time in the film that Suraaiya Jaan – Firangi’s friend.

PAUSE – Wait, didn’t we realize while watching the movie that what’s he doing in the film because as far as we remember, that friend-cum-knowledge guy is nothing but a “filler”.

BACK FROM THE PAUSE – Thugs of Hindostan has some of the best-executed stunts but personally, Amitabh Bachchan for the first time made it realize that somewhere he has got tired. Although, every time when his heavy voice echoed in the theater, we experienced an outstanding class of acting.

PAUSE – Jnr. B are you even listening? Why aren’t you upgrading your acting skills?

BACK FROM THE PAUSE – One thing interesting about the movie is that Zafira aka Fatima Sana Shaikh is going to be a superstar. She and Aamir Khan had the most convincing eye gestures in the entire movie. Moving ahead, the movie does have some pretty good unexpected twists and turns but overall, it somehow just manages to keep it all together until the end.

Now, talking about all the wrong things or preferably not-so-good things in the movie –

There are instances in the film where you can quickly figure out what will happen next. It’s just similar to the fact even after a few twists, even the girls sitting beside me were like “there is a twist coming again!”

The VFX work was good, but you know it could have been better. Furthermore, we even realized that during some takes, the camera just took less time to capture individual shots; it was as if the cameraman was in a hurry to reach the next possible shot. It could have been great. The songs in the movie were not at all required. Personally speaking, the voice by all the signers was good, even best, as usual, but overall no such song was needed in the movie. Although, the background score of the film is good.

PAUSE – Yeah dude, when will Bollywood get over with this whole song thingy?

BACK FROM THE PAUSE – Aamir Khan was the next common thing in the movie after “Azadi”. It was as if Azadi was a perfect nemesis to him and when he found out; he took a new route to gain taste some more of it.
Overall, the movie stands at 3 out of 5 on the movie scale but who’s worried about it when you have BLOCKBUSTER written all over your movie.

Hi, this is your Filmee Boy! About me? Well, I am a "Bakchod" who performs way better than "Thugs of Hindustan" by firing "Andhadhun" words. I am the "Padman" who has always stood at "102 Not Out". Last time when you were being a "Fanney Khan" at one of your "Veere Di Wedding", I was ruling the "Baazaar" of Bollywood by singing "Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga".
